# Search all analyzed media across projects and drives
> Choose which files Jumper searches, or search every analyzed file across projects and connected or disconnected storage drives from one place.
## Overview
Jumper can search your entire analyzed media library across projects and storage drives. **Search All Analyzed Media includes previously analyzed files on disconnected or offline drives**, because Jumper searches the local analysis data rather than requiring every source file to be online.
Jumper's search context determines which media files and bins are included in your searches. By managing your search context, you can:
* **Improve search accuracy** by focusing on relevant footage
* **Speed up searches** by limiting the scope
* **Search across projects** using all your analyzed media
* **Organize searches** by specific bins or files
You control search context through two main features: the [Context Picker](/interface/search-tab#context-picker) in the Search tab, and the "Include in search" column in the [Media tab](/interface/media-tab).
## Understanding search context
By default, Jumper searches only in media files that are:
1. Included in your current project
2. Marked with a checkmark in the "Include in search" column in the Media tab
The Context Picker shows you exactly which files and bins are currently included in your search context, and lets you quickly adjust them.
## Using the Context Picker
The Context Picker is located in the Search tab, above the search box. It displays the files and bins that are currently included in your search.
Navigate to the [Search tab](/interface/search-tab) and locate the Context Picker above the search box.
The Context Picker shows all files and bins currently included in your search. This matches what's checked in the "Include in search" column in the Media tab.
To change which files are included, go to the [Media tab](/interface/media-tab) and use the checkboxes in the "Include in search" column. Changes are immediately reflected in the Context Picker.
The Context Picker is read-only—it displays your current search context. To change which files are included, use the "Include in search" column in the Media tab.
## Narrowing your search context
When searching through large amounts of media, narrowing your search context can improve both accuracy and speed. This is especially useful when you know which specific files or bins contain the footage you're looking for.
Before searching, identify which bins or specific files contain the footage you need. For example, if you're looking for B-roll shots, you might focus on a specific B-roll bin.
Navigate to the [Media tab](/interface/media-tab) to manage which files are included in searches.
Use the "Filter by bin" dropdown at the top of the Media tab to focus on specific bins in your project.
Uncheck files or bins you don't want to search in. Only files with checkmarks in the "Include in search" column will be searched.
Return to the Search tab and check the Context Picker to confirm only your target files are included.
Your search will now only look through the selected files, resulting in faster and more accurate results.
Narrowing your search context is recommended when you know which files or bins contain what you're looking for. This helps the models focus on relevant footage and reduces false positives.
## Using Search All Analyzed Media
The **Search All Analyzed Media** option searches every file represented in your analysis folder, whether or not the file is in the current project or its storage drive is connected. This is useful when you want to find footage from previous projects, media that has not been imported yet, or archived media on an offline drive.
In the Search tab, locate the Context Picker above the search box.
Find the "Search All Analyzed Media" toggle in the Context Picker and switch it on.
Your search will now include all analyzed media on your system, regardless of whether it's in your current project.
Results from media outside your current project are displayed with an amber (orange) background. A result can still be found when its source drive is disconnected.
### When to use Search All Analyzed Media
Use this feature when:
* **Finding footage from previous projects** without reopening them
* **Searching before importing** media into your current project
* **Working with shared analysis folders** where media might be analyzed on different machines
* **Looking for specific shots** across your entire media library
### Identifying external results
Results from media outside your current project are clearly marked with an amber background. This helps you:
* Distinguish between project media and external media
* Decide whether to import external files into your project
* Understand which results require additional steps to use
To use external media in your project, import it through your editing software. If the source is on a disconnected drive, reconnect that drive before you open, import, or add the original file.
## Managing context for different workflows
### Workflow: Finding specific shots in a large project
When working with a large project containing many hours of footage:
1. Use the Media tab's "Filter by bin" to focus on relevant bins
2. Uncheck bins that don't contain relevant footage
3. Verify your context in the Context Picker
4. Perform your search with the narrowed context
This approach reduces search time and improves result relevance.
### Workflow: Searching across multiple projects
When you need footage from previous projects:
1. Enable "Search All Analyzed Media" in the Context Picker
2. Perform your search
3. Look for results with amber backgrounds (external media)
4. Use the "Show in filesystem" option (if available) to locate files
5. Import the files you need into your current project
### Workflow: Organizing searches by scene or location
When you have footage organized by bins (e.g., "Scene 1", "Scene 2", "Location A"):
1. Filter by the relevant bin in the Media tab
2. Ensure only files from that bin are checked in "Include in search"
3. Perform your search within that specific context
4. Switch to a different bin and repeat as needed
This keeps your searches focused and organized.
## Tips for managing search context
* **Start broad, then narrow**: If you're not sure where footage is, start with a broader context and narrow it down based on initial results
* **Use bin filters**: The Media tab's bin filter helps you quickly focus on specific parts of your project
* **Check the Context Picker regularly**: It's a quick way to verify what you're searching in before performing a search
* **Remember external media**: When using "Search All Analyzed Media", remember that amber results need to be imported to use them
* **Reset when needed**: If searches aren't finding expected results, check that your context includes the right files
The search context settings persist between searches, so you don't need to reconfigure them for each search. However, remember to adjust them when switching between different types of searches or projects.
